My latest post is up at the parenting blog, Mumbling Mommy. This time, I’m talking about the challenges I face as a co-leader of my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. Our local elementary school — and, as a result, our Girl Scout troop — is racially and socioeconomically diverse, and many children come from less-than-ideal home situations. Working with some of these children through Girl Scouts can be difficult. However, these are also the children who most need and most benefit from organizations like scouting.
